How To Access SkyDrive Files Offline In Windows 8.1

SkyDrive is the cloud storage service from Microsoft and it is one place for everything in our Smartphone world. We can store videos, photos, documents and more and also we can share them anywhere and to any device. Microsoft gives us 15GB of free storage when we sign up for the cloud service.

SkyDrive was initially available only online but with the update of Windows 8.1 Skydrive has also been updated with a new feature and that is SkyDrive files which can now be accessed even if we don’t have an internet connection, razer synapse it means they are available even offline now. This is a great advantage for people who travel without having access to the internet.

Below is the simple process on how to make SkyDrive files available offline in Windows 8.1

1. On the desktop, you have a file called “File Explorer“ open it. If you are viewing in tiles, Press Windows key+D.

2. Now Right click on the SkyDrive icon in the folder and select “Make available offline”

Now your SkyDrive will start downloading your files on to your PC from the Cloud and will be stored locally on your PC. The download files from SkyDrive will be available for only that PC. If you want the files to be available on your other PC then you need to repeat the same steps as you have done for the first & remember the PC must be running Windows 8.1 OS.

We have an option of selecting only Documents and Pictures in the SkyDrive to be available for offline. For doing so, just right click on the Folders and select “Make available offline“.

This is one of the top features of the update in Windows 8.1 and in SkyDrive. This tip will be very useful when you want to access files offline from SkyDrive.
